Full Steam Ahead for 2025 Sport Seasons

This past Saturday, 26 October, we held the first of several Academy Induction’s for the 2024/25 Season.

The induction took place at the home of the Academy’s Education Partner, Western Sydney University’s Campbelltown Campus. Athletes from 3x3 Basketball, Basketball, Golf, Indigenous Athlete Talent Program, Netball, Netball Umpires, Softball, Triathlon and Wests Future Stars Programs as well as their parents, guardians and coach and support staff joined together for a morning of education on the Academy’s values, policies, and requirements.

This day was full of insight on the Academy, delivered by CEO Gerry Knights and Academy Staff. As we outlined our vision and expectations of being an Academy athlete. Which was then followed by breakout sessions for athletes, as well as parents and guardians.

The athletes got to hear the wisdom and experience of Judo Olympic Athletes and motivational speakers, Josh and Nathan Katz , who provided athletes an insight into the challenges, and potential success available through managing their athletic journey.

Then in the other room, and second breakout session, was an insightful discussion led by Madalyn Incognito from Condor Performance - Psychologists of Sport & Performance and how to manage stress, and the sports ‘thought’ processes.

Whilst the athletes were having great chats the parents held their own education session on 3Dimensional Parenting and supporting the athlete’s journey, led by Academy Chaplain Jim Dayhew and the 3D Institute.

The day closed out by Academy S&C Partner Bounce Back Physiotherapy & Osteopathy’s Ben Fuller, who spoke to the parent cohort on how to assist their athletes in identifying an utilising a strength and conditioning program.

We look forward to seeing all our athletes progress in their respective program seasons ahead as their Academy training programs start to ramp up.
